An unlikely combination you may think but, last Saturday, the Trustees of Friends of Young Carers (West Berkshire) proved that this was indeed a brilliant match by raising £210.00 towards respite activities for children in our area.
After a glorious sunny February day on the Friday, match day on the 13th dawned grey, wet and gloomy. With kick-off re-scheduled for 2:30pm we set up camp in the foyer of Newbury Rugby Club and were prepared to enjoy ourselves and raise money in spite of the weather.
The staff and supporters were very welcoming and in no time people were taking an interest in why we were there and what the Charity is doing for Young Carers in West Berks.
Sidney the Owl went down incredibly well and all our Valentines Owls went away with very happy owners. One very generous gentleman took six owls to place around his home as a Valentines surprise for his wife!!
Thank you so much to all who attended and supported us at Newbury Rugby Club.http://www.newburyrfc.co.uk/
Congratulations to the team also as they had a 23-17 win against Whitney.
